TextCortex Review – Is it good and worth it?

Released in 2021 (yes, the year before yesteryear), TextCortex joins the list of AI natural language models for content writers who hope to turn heads with their advanced algorithms.

And it looks like TextCortex is having its prime time. Two years after its launch, it garnered over 200 5-star recommendations on review sites like Trustpilot and Capterra.

Nevertheless, those reviews hardly tell us how TextCortex fares when generating articles and blog posts that seem human-like, not just in grammatical correctness but in emotional appeal.

In other words, I am just as interested as you are in knowing whether or not TextCortex repeats the flaws of other AI writing assistants that are mechanical and robotic in style.

You know the only thing that will tell us that? A detailed review of TextCortex in the light of its role as an assistant for content writers.

So come with me, and together, we will explore the breadth, depth, width, and length of everything TextCortex offers.

This review discusses TextCortex on a six-factor basis, complete with a detailed analysis of the pros and cons of the program.

Come along.

Overview of TextCortex

TextCortex is a Berlin-based AI startup that was founded in 2021 by Ceyhun Derinbogaz. His profile on Crunchbase identifies him as a deep tech entrepreneur, software engineer, and author who had already launched two successful tech startups by age 24.

TextCortext AI is Derinbogaz’s latest and greatest venture. It is the parent company of the AI-based platform of the same name designed to help companies and individuals with their content creation process.

The AI writing assistant aims to help content writers in any industry brainstorm ideas and convey their message with impactful words.

The two major elements of TextCortex AI are ZenoChat and Zeno Assist. ZenoChat, as the name suggests, is TextCortex’s native chatbot that can answer any query you throw at it.

Zeno Assist, on the other hand, sits in the AI editor section of your TextCortex portal and is the one that helps you generate content from scratch or pick up your writing from where you stopped.

The significant difference between TextCortex and other AI language models is that TextCortex allows you to switch between different styles and tones in your writing so that you can sound like an expert on a topic you don’t even know about.

You can also customize your writing with TextCortex to appeal to different cultures and age groups.

You can create an individual persona or a brand persona so that your readers associate your writing with a distinct identity.

Templates are another TextCortex element differentiating it from your usual AI writing assistants. There are scores of them for different types of content.

If, for example, you don’t know how to write an SEO-friendly article, you can select the template on TextCortex, and Zeno Assist will whip up the article in a matter of seconds once you provide the keywords.

Any project you execute on TextCortex, whether generating a blog post or crafting an outreach email, uses up creations. Creations are TextCortex’s virtual tokens that you get when you sign up for the free plan or upgrade to the premium subscription.

With the free plan, you get a limited number of creations, which means you can’t exceed a specific total word count for all your projects. To get more/unlimited creations and other benefits, you must sign up for the paid plans.

What is TextCortex best for?

Textcortex has diverse uses. The AI-powered writing assistant can help with any task that involves text or language, such as text classification, sentiment analysis, language generation, chatbot development, language translation, and, of course, content creation.

That said, TextCortex’s forte is in developing short-form content such as social media posts, product descriptions, short-form blog posts, and articles.

TextCortex also excels at rewriting text how you like it.

Other areas you can TextCortex in include:

  • Idea Generation

TextCortex can save you much time brainstorming ideas on new points to include in your writeup and how to express your message with persuasive language.

Writing, however, is not the only part of business that TextCortex can provide solutions to.

If you are interested in becoming an entrepreneur or want to create your start-up but aren’t sure of a profitable business idea, TextCortex can handle that part and generate unique and innovative business ideas based on specific keywords or industries

  • SEO Content Optimization

Ever felt like no AI language model could lighten the load of integrating SEO into your articles and blog posts?

Well, it looks like TextCortex has that in its medulla as well. I must admit, though, that the AI is lacking in this regard compared to some of its competitors.

If you click on the AI Editor from the more tab, you can select the template you want to use for your blog posts. Click on “blog body” or anything related to that, and you will be asked to input your keywords.

TextCortex will then take those keywords and distribute them at strategic points in your article or blog post.

I also noticed that you can generate properly formatted SEO write-ups with all the appropriate headings, subheadings, and paragraph breaks—what we know as content structure.

TextCortex also includes a readability checker and a plagiarism scanner for more of the pre-publishing precautions related to SEO.

  • Content Localization

Language translation readily comes to mind here. TextCortex can translate your content from English or your native tongue into over 25 languages, including but not limited to Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

You can also use TextCortex to hone how your content sounds to different age groups or your audience in particular.

Whether your audience likes a playful tone or leans towards a more formal one, you can use TextCortex’s style options to adjust.

TextCortex’s keyword research template will also prove helpful as it analyzes SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) to dig out keywords that are relevant or are trending in that target language or culture.

  • Advertising & Advertising

To take out the hassle from your advertising and marketing process, TextCortex has three templates dedicated to generating ad copies, drafting marketing copies, and optimizing content for optimal conversion.

The Ad Copy Generator takes care of your text ads, image ads, and video ads for a variety of awareness creation platforms like Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

The Marketing Content Generator template is for your blog posts, articles, social media posts, email newsletters, and other types of marketing content.

Last but not least, the Conversion Rate Optimizer template checks your content for where the persuasive power is lacking.

Features of TextCortex

TextCortex comes with a slew of features out of the box to convince you to finally trust an AI program for assistance in your content creation.

That’s the focus of this section.

ZenoChat

ZenoChat is TextCortex’s chatbot that allows you to ask the platform questions and get answers.

ZenoChat will fetch the answer for you as soon as you give it its query, such as asking it to explain the uses of a particular software or pulling up the recipe of a dish you just discovered.

ZenoChat can generate these responses on its own or source its replies from the web when you enable the internet search toggle for the AI to browse the web for you as you work.

A third option is to ask ZenoChat to find the answers from your knowledge bases consisting of documents you have already uploaded. More on this later.

ZenoChat is available as an online platform or as a Chrome extension. The former is more powerful, but the latter is more convenient.

ZenoAssist

ZenoAssist comes into play when dealing with long-form content, such as an entire article for a blog post. Zeno Assistant lives inside TextCortex’s AI document editor, with document composition and editing tools.

When you are writing an article and get stuck, click on the ZenoAssist button on the upper right side of the AI editor to expand a sentence, explain an unfamiliar term, or continue writing from where you stopped.

Zeno Assistant also includes a plagiarism checker and a readability scanner so that you can ensure that your content is both original and easy to read.

TextCortex Toolbar

The TextCortex toolbar works when composing a document in Google Docs or some other editing platform using the Zeno Assist Extension.

The toolbar works precisely like the standard toolbar when you press and hold on text in any document. However, you can do much more than cut, copy, and paste with the TextCortex toolbar.

Once you highlight any piece of text in the document you are composing, you can, with the toolbar, paraphrase it, compress it, translate it, read it out loud, email it, and so on.

Template Library

The template library is another of TextCortex’s points of interest. This is where you dictate the kind of content you want, whether it’s a blog post, an SEO-oriented piece, a YouTube ad copy, an email, et cetera.

There are dozens of templates grouped into occupations and categories. You can also create your own templates if the available ones don’t meet your needs.

One thing I admire is that there are already many templates to simplify many types of tasks.

For instance, there is a template for text-to-speech tasks and one for speech-to-text projects. There is also a text summarizer and a text paraphraser, amongst other templates.

Custom Personas

You can’t be a field expert in every topic you write about, nor can you always hire an expert in a particular field, say, tech, to write your articles for you, as that might burn holes in your finances.

However, your audience will quickly tune out if your content lacks the voice and tone of a guru in their topic of interest.

TextCortex’s inbuilt and custom personas solve that problem for you by helping you spin articles that sound like a subject expert wrote them.

Hence, you can, for instance, employ a tour guide persona in TextCortex when writing tourism or travel-related articles.

Or, say you are composing an article around jokes or comedy; TextCortex’s stand-up comedian persona will handle that for you.

The better part is that you can create a persona to exude your individual values or those of your brand.

Knowledge Bases

Have you ever had to sift through piles of files on your PC or mobile phone to locate a document you need to get a reference from?

You might soon be free of that trouble as TextCortex has a way of letting you retrieve relevant information from any document with just a few clicks.

This ability works like a universal search feature where you can type a search term, and the system pulls up all documents that contain something even remotely similar to your query.

All you have to do is upload your documents into your private knowledge bases in TextCortex. You can create as many knowledge bases as you want if your plan allows it.

The next time you want to use ZenoChat to get a quick answer to a query, you can command it to pick the answers from any matching documents in your selected knowledge base.

Pricing – How much does it cost?

As mentioned, TextCortex charges virtual tokens called creations for your writing projects.

These creations are charged per 125 words. Or, to put it differently, 125 words cost one creation.

The free plan comes with about 50 creations to boot. Once that is exhausted, your plan refills with 20 creations every day.

That’s to say, with the free plan, you can create any content up to a total of 2,500 words (125×20)

As your workload increases, so does the number of creations you need. In no time, you might need to sign up for one of the paid subscription models.

There are two paid plans to pick from lite and unlimited. You can select monthly billing or annual billing for both.

The Lite plan ranges from $67.10 to $671.90 annually, depending on the monthly quota of words you select.

For the lite monthly plan, the billing ranges from $6.99 to $69.99 paid every month.

With the unlimited plan, you break free from the usage limit and can write as many words as you wish throughout your billing. This plan goes for $1,007.92 annually and $119.99 monthly.

Benefits of TextCortex

Until now, we have looked at TextCortex from the angle of specs and features. Let’s now turn the narrative and examine the software on the more human side—its pros and cons.

More Content In Less Time

Statistics show that content creation consumes a large chunk of a business’s time—as high as 60% sometimes.

The result is that many businesses struggle to create enough content to meet their needs.

TextCortex can lend a helping hand to such businesses so that they can scale up their content creation and produce more blog posts, social media posts, and other marketing materials.

The time saved can then be used to attend to other elements of business, such as sales or customer service.

Higher Quality & Authenticity

It’s not recommended to use AI entirely for your content creation purposes as you could be called out for factual errors or, worse, plagiarizing copyrighted content.

But with TextCortex, you also get a plagiarism checker that can scan your write-up for any duplication of existing material on the web.

Other aspects of quality content, such as grammar, proper word choice, and punctuation, have the relevant tools embedded in TextCortex.

Creativity Boost

Writer’s block is no joking matter, even when you are just writing, say, a casual email.

It becomes a real enemy when you start running out of ideas, your content starts looking repetitive in tone, and the style shows little to no flexibility.

TextCortex’s ZenoChat and Zeno Assistant can help suggest ideas you might be too tired to think of and even complete your sentences for you.

Extensive Feature Set

TextCortex has a wealth of features that every kind of content creator can tap into and upgrade the quality of their work.

Sales professionals, content marketers, and freelancers can use TextCortex to generate content from scratch, paraphrase sentences, and proofread their work.

Personalized AI Writing

TextCortex has many writing styles built into the program out of the box so that your creation doesn’t betray the fact that an AI worked with you on it.

You can select from any one of these styles and make your content sound the way your audience wants it.

For instance, you can paraphrase your text to sound cheerful, blunt, informal, detailed, et cetera.

TextCortex’s real personalization power comes into play through the personas feature.

If you want to inject certain nuances and perspectives into your work so that your readers can associate a particular persona with you, TextCortex enables you to do that from its persona catalog.

The result is that your writing takes on a unique identity that your readers cannot mistake for anyone else. You can also give your audience the feeling that you are an expert in a particular subject if you select the matching persona.

You can also create your own persona and make your writing possess certain qualities that you might otherwise be unable to capture on your own.

Rich Set of Templates

You may not know how to structure a YouTube ad, or time might be in short supply to sit down and write 100s of product descriptions.

Whatever the kind of short-form or long-form content you need to create, chances are you won’t need to do it from scratch.

TextCortex has over 100 templates that can instantly get you started on that blog post or that marketing caption without you stressing about the right way to go about it.

If you already have a pattern of writing that works really well for you, you can include it as a custom template in your TextCortex template library, and the AI will use it to draft your next piece of content in no time.

Cross Platform Support

TextCortex works on mobile and desktop and has a browser extension. Besides, it integrates very well with over 4,000 platforms in such categories as design, business, automation, education, copywriting, browsers, et cetera.

You can even connect TextCortex with integration beast Zapier and have thousands of more platforms at your disposal.

And yes, TextCortex integrates with SurferSEO for an all-around SEO content creation experience.

Free Plan

TextCortex’s free plan allows you to try out many of the features of TextCortex without cost.

You only get 20 creations every day, but you can use that for a total of 2500 words across all your writing projects.

You can also create three custom personas and upload three knowledge bases along with some other benefits. That’s not stingy for a free forever plan.

Cons of TextCortex

Limited Content Generation

After examining TextCortex thoroughly, I would not recommend it for long-form content purposes.

I’d advise you to limit your use of TextCortex to short-form stuff like short blog posts, social media posts, and brief articles.

One reason is that TextCortex can only generate text in small chunks, so if you are writing a long blog post or anything 5,000 words and up, TextCortex might not be of much help.

Consider something else for your next ebook.

Plagiarism Issues

Well, all AI language models suffer from this issue, so it’s not really a TextCortex-exclusive problem. But then, it’s still worth watching out for.

Is it recommended?

Yes!

For me, it’s the stark difference between TextCortex and other AI writing assistants in terms of presentation and customization that makes the former a good pick.

Most AI language models generate text in a manner that feels repetitive and emotionless. Their output is often mechanical, and it’s all too clear that a robot regurgitated it.

Not so with TextCortex. Its output isn’t perfectly human-like, but it lets you sprinkle variety in style and tone in your content, and you can train it to write in your individual persona or that of your brand.

Besides, unlike other language models, TextCortex was designed with content creators in mind, owing to the presence of SEO optimization features and a large library of templates for just about any content.

Then too, TextCortex is significantly cheaper than other AI writing assistants that were designed for similar purposes. You can create something daily with the free plan, which is hard to say about the competition.
